Here’s the thing about Celiac Disease – 1 in 133 people in the United States are estimated to have it. A huge number? No, but enough to make an impact. As access to Celiac-friendly food has increased exponentially in the last decade, there are still improvements that could be made. My goal is to share my experiences and hopefully make it easier for people that have the disease to navigate a bit more smoothly.

I was diagnosed with Celiac in my late 20’s and while it was a life change, I still feel lucky to this day that I had a doctor who properly diagnosed me and I could stop feeling sick all of the time. Then there was my grandmother who had her first bout of stomach cancer in her 40’s and that continued in many forms until she passed in her mid-60’s. My doctor that diagnosed me said that most likely she had undiagnosed Celiac. I think about her all the time and how she loved travel and food so much, but became so limited on both later in life because she simply did not know how to manage her symptoms.

So I decided that I wanted to start a blog to help others, but really to honor my grandmother. It makes me sad to know how much she missed out on in her later life and if sharing my experiences helps, that is fulfilling to me.

This blog will focus on gluten/wheat free food, but I hope to provide insight to anyone who likes to cook! There are so many wonderful things that are naturally gluten free and I hope to share things that I love and some things that I have learned along the way.
